Case study
THE CHANNEL
A solid channel for a developer tool, with a ceiling of about 6×
Firecrawl has 63.3K subscribers and 115 videos. The median of the last 30 uploads is 4K views. The top video has 24K, so the best in the library is 6× the middle.
That is a channel with a tight spread. It has no giant outlier, which tells us a lot about where the next gain is.

WHAT THE DATA SHOWS
Cost pain plus a tool people already use
1. “Stop paying” is a repeatable hook
Two of the top six start with it, and both put a number on the pain: “100x faster”, “$1,000”. A cost promise is easy to understand in a thumbnail.
2. Firecrawl rides inside someone else’s demand
Gemini, Claude Code, GitHub trends. The product is the working part of a tutorial for a tool the viewer already searches for. That is how a 63K channel reaches 24K viewers on one video.
3. The weaker videos are product-first
Prompt-injection protection (1.1K) and a model-picker demo (2.5K) are both real features. Both are explained as features. The same ideas framed as a cost or a result would have a different title.
4. No second engine yet
Most uploads are tutorials for existing users. The channel does not have a flagship “learn web scraping for agents” video that a newcomer can find from search.
WHAT WE DO WITH IT
What we do with it
Own the cost-saving series. “Stop paying for ___” becomes a recurring slot, with one number in the title and a before/after on screen.
Plan around the big-tool calendar. New Gemini, Claude and GitHub releases each get a Firecrawl tie-in within days.
Build the flagship. One long, chaptered “web data for AI agents” course, written for people who do not know Firecrawl yet.
Reframe feature videos. Each feature gets a use case and a result in the title.
Questions a SaaS founder would ask
Can a developer tool channel be “marketing”? It can, if the video solves a problem first and the tool is how it is solved.
Why not lead with product features? Nobody searches for a feature they have not heard of. They search for their pain.
How do we get a breakout? A flagship asset on a big topic, then a clear way to re-cut it. See the Surfer and Tina Huang breakdowns.
