Case study
THE CHANNEL
A very strong channel with two formats that keep winning
Tina Huang’s channel has 1.36M subscribers and 383 videos. The median of the last 30 uploads is 240K views, a number most B2B channels never reach.
The all-time top six sit between 2.2M and 3.4M. The last 30 days look similar.
Two formats, side by side
First-person learning stories: “How I would learn to code (if I could start over)” (3.4M), “How I consistently study with a full time job” (2.9M), “How to self study technical things” (2.3M). All five years old.
Compressed courses: “Financial Literacy In 63 Minutes” (3.0M), “Google’s 9 Hour AI Prompt Engineering Course In 20 Minutes” (2.2M), “Every Size Local AI In 24 Minutes” (1.8M, 4 weeks old), “Obsidian in 24 Minutes” (918K, 1 month old).
WHAT THE DATA SHOWS
The format is “a whole subject, in a fixed amount of time”
The title sets a contract
“In 24 minutes”, “In 63 minutes”, “In 20 minutes”. The viewer knows what they get, how long it takes and that it is complete. Four of the last six uploads follow this pattern, and so do two of the top six of all time.
It works on fast-moving topics
Local AI, Obsidian, productivity, AI models. Topics where a viewer is overwhelmed by options and wants someone to sort them. A compressed course turns that overwhelm into a single sitting.
The older story videos still hold
Five-year-old videos still sit at the top of the list. They answer evergreen “where do I start?” questions, so they keep getting found. The recent uploads add a second engine on top rather than replacing them.
The roadmap video is the next test
“Here’s the AI Roadmap You Actually Need” (298K in 7 days) sits just above the median. It is a story-style upload, and the first few months will show whether it keeps earning in search.
WHAT WE DO WITH IT
What we do with it
Plan the compressed-course calendar. One flagship per month on a topic with fast-growing search, with a fixed time in the title.
Re-cut the evergreen stories. The five-year-old “start from zero” videos get updated intros and pinned links to the current course videos.
Turn every course into chapters. Chapters feed Shorts and search at once.
Give each flagship a next step. One clear link to her own site and offers, tracked by video.
Questions a SaaS founder would ask
Will this format work for B2B software? Yes, wherever buyers are buried in options: “every CRM compared in 20 minutes”, “SOC 2 in 30 minutes”.
Is shorter always better? No. The time is a promise. A 63-minute course won as well as a 20-minute one.
Why do old videos still lead? Because the question never expires. That is the case for evergreen over news.
